I Love adding images to my boards it can easily take up hours and hours of your time but well worth it!! It has everything on there, here's a few bits I've pinned on there so far:

The mission is to become the best textiles platform for innovative, sustainable design, sophisticated design thinking and intelligent writing (outside of academia) in the world!

POTENTIAL

POTENTIAL a latent excellence or ability that may or may not be developed. It's an interesting point we leave University and we have bags of the stuff does it leave us or nearing 30 are we meant to have reached it?? I think I still have loads of potential left in me, it's funny I'm almost 30 and feeling a little old but I feel like my career is just starting in some ways... it is in its young days lots more exciting stuff to come!! I'm carving my career like us all in creative industry we have to find our way.... It's not a straight path like other jobs for example an accountant they study, get a job at entry level and do more exams yes there are a few avenues to go but really they have a path whereas we creatives have endless opportunities some things we wouldn't even have dreamed of.

Take me for insistent I left Chelsea University with a first class BA Hons in digital printed textiles.
I spent the 1st year after doing commissions for some very exciting people like Charles Saatchi, Charlie Allen and Amanda Elisach, also working with Emma Newberg as an art assistant and the 1st work of art for almost 3 years and teaching art to some cool kids there father is Franc Roddam director of Quadrophenia film and there Mother Carina Cooper food writer.
I then went on to do print and girls wear garment design for WOOLWORTHS Plc for 2 years and lived in Australia and designed Ladies wear prints and garments for MYER for another 2 years having a cool commission on the side doing a whole brand identity for a confectionery store in New Zealand Treat, JR Duty free.
Now I'm back to what I LOVE doing commissions Irina Parsina, Chloe Fowler, Razor Research, Cotton and Hobbs, The Enterprise etc. and free-lance design work for the likes of Yumi, Uttam Kids, Ted Baker at Debenhams, Abigail Ahern, Lemon Ribbon swatch company.

I'm loving every minute of the twist and turns and getting to know myself better as a designer/ artist and person. Very exciting times!! Just know you are on the right path if you are enjoying what you are doing then you definitely are!! We live once you may as well make the most of it!!

Some works throughout the years below:

She makes her animals (Zebra, Dogs, birds and a hare) using Victorian, Antique, Vintage laces, embroideries, embellishments, fabrics and haberdashery. This took a whooping six months to make but time well spent I'd say!!

For the occasion of the release of the elegant air balloon bag charm, inspired by the iconic Monogram canvas created in 1896, Christian Borstlap has imagined the adventure of this little collectable. A miniature version of a monogram trunk suspended from an air-balloon wanders through an unknown and ancient world in search of its home.

Inspiration

Let's talk about inspiration! We can get inspired by all sorts of things, Artists, Designers, Illustrators, Books, Internet, Music, Food (amazingly beautiful food around nowadays), Nature, something found in the street, you name it....

I think it's really great to be inspired by someone that works in a totally different way! It broadens your horizons. Take Abigail Ahern, she is amazing; using textures, layers, colour in a very different way from how I do... it's a fabulous resource as it changes the way in which you work but not from copying what she does but in a way where she gives another perspective. Take a look at her pad.

Stunning isn't it, VERY different from your average home. It may not be your cup of tea but it's about what makes you happy, you have to want to walk through that door and smile. Confidence is key! Don't listen to what everyone else thinks listen to your gut! x x x
